Job Overview: The ideal candidate is a senior financial leader with a University degree, (Business Management training through education or equivalent employment experience) bringing a depth of experience combined with highly developed creative communication and leadership skills. Responsibilities and Duties • Will undertake all aspects of fiscal management including management and financial reporting, budgeting, forecast preparation, and the maintenance and development of internal control policies, procedures and processes • Prepare annual financial business plans and targets, operating and capital budgets and forecasts • Ensure the account reconciliations, G/L management, monthly accruals, A/R, A/P and related functions, internal expense reporting, fixed asset management, tax filings and corporate tax installments are completed accurately and on time • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts) and management reporting and analysis to support Executive decision making. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met • Tax planning, and ensure compliance with Corporate Tax, HST and other government reconciliations and remittances • Analyze key variances and monitor progress of action plans to improve results and strategically operate the business • Manage cash flow and capital spending • Establish and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls • Manage, coach, supervise and train 2 to 3 finance team members • Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by all staff and that all transactions are correctly reflected in the accounts • Prepare for, and support external audits • Liaise (key contact), deal with financial institutions and compliance with their requirements • Assist with project quoting and job costing • Assist with management of treasury functions including cash, foreign exchange, debt and other instruments as needed • Collect, analyze and report financial and operating metrics for all departments • Prepare and circulate weekly financial/operational performance Dashboard • Manage, review and processing payroll • Manage all IT requirements associated with required controls • Other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications and Skills • University degree in Accounting/Finance. Business Management training through education or equivalent employment experience is preferred; CA, CMA, or CGA in good standing • Minimum 10 years accounting experience • Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related and progressive Finance/Accounting Role • Competence and experience in the duties and responsibilities described above • Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting/forecasting, year-end functions • Strong knowledge of internal controls * Sound knowledge of Canadian tax and experience preparing and filing corporate tax returns • Proficiency in Sage 300, Simply Accounting is considered an asset • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoints • Excellent judgement, problem solving skills • Self-starter, team player and ability to thrive in fast paced and high energy environment • Possess initiative, integrity and a strong work ethic • Attention to detail, accuracy is important • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible • Professional, self-confident and able to work independently • Strong customer service skills and a positive, can-do attitude • Solid verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines |
